About Protexplo
To mitigate the safety risks associated with industrial explosives, Protexplo is a company that designs and manufactures safe and secure storage and transportation equipment for explosives, adhering to the high standards applied in the industry. Safety in handling explosives has been Protexplo’s sole focus since 1975. Over the past 30 years, Protexplo has worked closely with government authorities to develop industry standards, particularly in the design of storage door standards in 2001 and lock standards in 2015.
It is through its reliable, high-performing products and services, perfectly aligned with regulations, that Protexplo has established its reputation in the industry. By carefully considering the needs of its customers, the company has adapted and optimized the efficiency of its products, positioning itself as the go-to for users.
EXPLOSIVES SECURITY IS OUR BUSINESS
Our story over the years
1975
Marcel Castonguay acquires Protexplo, renaming it to MARCEL CASTONGUAY ENR. With perseverance, Marcel and his wife Denise restore a reliable reputation and expertise within the explosives industry.
2000
The company is rebranded as PROTEXPLO. The quality of service and manufactured products allows it to reach a clientele spread throughout Eastern Canada. Stephane and his wife Sonia manage the company in a structured and efficient manner
2009
Protexplo completes its first international sale. Destinations include Burkina Faso, Suriname, and Papua New Guinea, among others.
2023
In response to the growing demand from customers in Western Canada, a new branch of Protexplo is established in Kelowna, BC.
1990
Their son, Stephane Castonguay, takes over the business under the name CASTONGUAY SÉCURITÉ. Through his ingenuity and versatility, Stephane manages to keep the clientele satisfied by paying special attention to each request and quickly adapting to new provincial and federal regulations. At this time, magazines were still being manufactured outdoors!
2008
As the door replacement campaign (application of standard 2001) comes to an end, Protexplo acquires a custom-built facility for its ambitious projects in Mirabel, QC. Magazines of dimensions 60’x24’x8’ can now be built indoors. Marcel can't help but compare the factory to a real cathedral
2019
It's the turn of the third generation, Simon Castonguay, to take the reins. Benefiting from the company's reputation and strong industry demand, Protexplo is poised for rapid growth. With the help of Will Christie, an employee at Protexplo since 2005, challenges are overcome, and a multidisciplinary team conducive to demand takes shape
